Once again, the Unstoppable awaits a dangerous mission that doesn't go according to plan. There are losses in the ranks of the squad: Barney Ross (Stallone) is out of action, and Lee Christmas (Statham) is suspended from the mission. Meanwhile, the team recruits new fighters, who, alas, also awaits failure. Statham's hero has to act alone to save his comrades and the future of the world.

Rumors of a fourth installment of "Unstoppable" appeared in Western media almost immediately after the premiere of the third series, and this despite the lackluster box office receipts. Since the franchise was originally created as an homage to old action movies, the main lure was the cast. What other action heroes would the producers bring in to please the audience! In the fourth series could appear Jean-Claude Van Damme (as the twin brother of his hero Vilen from the sequel "Unstoppable"), Antonio Banderas, Arnold Schwarzenegger, but in the end, the star cast shrunk to irreplaceable Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture. They were joined by "Ong Bak" hero Tony Jar, 50 Cent, who starred with Stallone in "Escape Plan," and Megan Fox and "Women's Fight Club" star Levi Tran. Must be in the team of mercenaries cool girls! Directing was entrusted to an experienced action director Scott Waugh, who in general did not pump up. On the screen constantly something explodes, someone fights and shoots - all according to the classics.

Most movie critics treated the fourth series quite strictly, in the smallest nuances describing the stupidity of the script and not the best acting. But the previous parts, excluding the first, where there was an excellent dramatic monologue of the hero Mickey Rourke about the fate of the mercenary, were not distinguished by psychology and original plot moves. The goals of the villains this time global, immediately giving the spirit of the Cold War: nothing more or less to provoke a nuclear conflict between Russia and the United States. The plot of the tape develops according to the usual scheme of the next mission, except for the sudden departure in the shadow of Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) and dismissal from the team "Unstoppable" for the failure of the mission in Libya Christmas (Jason Statham).

However, having no original ideas in terms of plot development, the three screenwriters (among them action master Kurt Wimmer) did a great job on the comedy component, so that at times their movie almost turns into a parody of the whole genre of cool action movie. It's enough to pay attention to the jobs that Christmas considers when looking for work: mechanic, carrier, bodyguard. Who knows Statham's filmography, will appreciate the humor at face value.

The dialog between Christmas and Barney Ross is also peppered with references to the actors themselves. Barney Ross, who lost a ring in a bar, brings his friend Christmas to help him deal with the local drunks who robbed him of his treasure. This episode references the Statham movie The Last Frontier (and Sylvester Stallone wrote the screenplay!), where the drug-dealing villains spent a lot of time in a backwater bar. Barney Ross now only drives an airplane, and when asked by Chris Christmas to help him in hand-to-hand combat, he replies that his back hurts.

Mocking references to age also touched Dolph Lundgren. In the fourth part, he retrained as a sniper, but has to wear glasses, in which he still misses. Also his character Gunnar Jensen reads a book about sober living and all the time fights the temptation to get drunk. Needless to say, when sober, Gunnar became more of a liability to the "Unstoppable" team (he is even credited with betraying them in the first episode). Only when he finally drank alcohol, he began to crush enemies like a deadly machine. The comic coloring of Gunnar's image will be appreciated first of all by connoisseurs of Dolph Lundgren's roles. He is hardly more often than other action heroes played characters experiencing any personal tragedy and therefore nakleysya to the bottle.

A successful acquisition of the series was Andy Garcia, who embodied the image of an arrogant CIA agent Marsh, who became the head of "Unstoppable". This character can be perceived as a parodic reference to the characters of Bruce Willis and Harrison Ford (both of them in the previous installments played maturing Tserushnikov), as well as to the former government agent James Monroe, the main villain of the original.

If in the first three episodes of the strain of the plot with honor pulled Barney Ross, and other "unstoppable" were at him on the chorus, then in the tape Scott Waugh on the forefront of the unexpected came Christmas. At the same time, the tape has not turned into a typical action movie Statham. The actor quite well replaces Barney Ross in most of the action and almost single-handedly crushes a whole army of well-armed fighters on a ship in the Sea of Japan, bringing back memories of a lone soldier John Rimbaud or Colonel Matrix from "Commando".

In terms of action, the movie takes a long time to get going, but it goes fast. If the initial episode in Libya may seem surprisingly dull, the final third is worthy of entering the annals of old-school action movies. Avoiding any logic, the director has perfectly filmed a small war with an indispensable nuclear explosion on a separate vessel in the Sea of Japan. The detective mystery of the identity of the main villain, who invisibly commands hordes of bandits, any connoisseur of old action will crack like a nut long before the finale. It is enough to look at the list of actors involved in the picture.

However, let's repeat, the main advantage of the new "Unstoppable" is not a cleverly thought-out plot and not well-written characters, but a lot of hints both to the previous parts and to the action movies of the actors involved in the movie. And, of course, deserves an ovation for the long massacre on the ship, which occupies almost the entire second half of the movie. For the sake of it, in fact, the new part was filmed.

The release of the fifth episode, obviously, will depend on the viewer's desire to see again in the case of favorite old men. And if Sylvester Stallone by the fifth part of the backache, he can be successfully replaced by a younger Jason Statham. Even comes the idea that "Unstoppable 4" and were filmed as a rehearsal for the possible resignation of Stallone from the franchise.
