The day before the greedy planners of the plan to strip the land of the residents of the Gun Dox area destroy it and turn it into a golf course, a teenager named Mickey Welch finds an old treasure map in the attic of his father's house. Hoping that she will help him save his home from destruction, he and his friends Date Wang, Chunk Cohen and Mouns Devereux set off in search of One-Eyed Willie's treasure.

Along with many other directors from the 80s and 90s, Richard Donner is sadly lost in the new decade. His "Trapped in Time" is quite behind the times with its light plot and not too hasty action, and "16 Quarters", attracted only the most notorious fans of Bruce Willis, except him in the picture there was nothing to look at. But, looking back at the bottom, we see that at one time the director watched if not brilliant, but very attractive genre films. Among them, my favorites are "Maverick", "Lethal Weapon", "Superman," Lady Hawk and. etc.

But in this case we are talking about the most incredible treasure from the baggage of this fairly competent director - the film "Goonies", which, unfortunately, I did not have time to watch at a young age, but which I watched with great pleasure quite recently. I don’t know, maybe the key role in the overall attractiveness of the picture was played by the hand of an equally popular master - Steven Spielberg, let me remind you that he is the producer of this tape. And here, throughout the whole picture, we even see more of Spielberg's, - the theme of childhood experiences against the background of deprivation of a home, a transitional age with all its attendant problems, first kisses, the first treasure found, and, the most important difference is the atmosphere of a fairy tale and spirit adventure!

I can praise the painting until the morning, so I will prioritize the most vivid impressions! The most striking thing is that, despite the multitude of modern children's films, with excellent special effects and visuals, no one has succeeded in surpassing the atmosphere of "Goonies". The scenery alone, the stunning layouts, inventive props, and no artificial special effects are worth a lot - believe me, it's worth a lot. I would also like to praise the pirate ship - this is a real attraction of a child's dream!

Donner also managed to attract very talented young actors into the picture. If Josh Brolin, the future star of "No Country for Old Men!", Plays a teenage schoolboy, in a fairly simple and memorable way, then Sean Astin looks like a real little professional, in the form of a sensual, adventurous child. Almost 16 years later, he will play Sam in The Lord of the Rings. I don’t want to figuratively compare these two completely different roles, but you must admit that the actor has depth and emotionality, that in “Goonies”, that in “The Lord of the Rings” - few of the current young actors can boast of such open close-ups and frankly kind expression faces.

There is a lot of humor in the picture - but the touching (I don't remember his name) fat men, a friend of the protagonist, is mainly responsible for him. His constant craving for trouble is so hilarious that at some points you will definitely need to press pause to laugh a lot. And the amazing Martha Plympt as a bitchy girlfriend is generally a separate conversation.

All of the above, of course, is great, but the most interesting and exciting awaits you in the story itself embedded in the picture. Stories about pirates are as old as the world, but they are so interesting a topic for both young and adult audiences that every new film shot on this topic will not skip past the ordinary viewer. So in "Goonies" the basis of the plot is laid in a pirate galleon, which seems to exist, and on which a lot of gold and jewelry!
