Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation 4K Review
Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation 4K - Dracula's daughter organizes summer holidays for family and friends. She orders an ocean cruise on a luxury liner, specially equipped for the needs of the resting monsters. Mavis does not know that a cruise is a trap for Dracula, which was invented by Eric van Helsing, the great-granddaughter of the famous vampire hunter Abraham van Helsing. In order to gain confidence in the monsters, Erika appears to be the captain of the ship and pleases the passengers in every possible way. Dracula is so impressed with a new acquaintance that he falls in love with her at first sight and begins to look after her. Mavis is annoyed, and she decides to prove that Eric is unworthy of her father.
After the director Genndy Tartakovsky released the second series of multbuster “Monsters on Vacation” in 2015, he wanted to switch to other tapes and pass the cycle to a new director. But none of the original full-length project he developed, and our former compatriot (recall that Tartakovsky was born in Moscow and emigrated to America at the age of seven) returned to the Sony Pictures Animation studio to continue the drawn epic of Dracula, Frankenstein, Mummy, Man -wolf and other classic kinomonstrakh.
If you and your children liked the previous Monster series, then “The Sea is Calling,” you will also probably like it. The plot of the cartoon is the most banal (“All-conquering love brings together sworn enemies”), but “Monsters” have not shown their original script canvas before. The secret of their success is a combination of vivid pictures, good-natured narration, energetic foolishness and an abundance of visual gags. Few people now know how, like Tartakovsky, to laugh the audience with a gait of a character or with a single gesture, and the best moments of the “Sea” are wordless.
Of course, funny replicas in the cartoon too. However, Tartakovsky, who first took over the composition of the “Monsters” script, was not strong in inventing them. The picture does not shine with verbal wit, but graphic notions and jokes smooth this deficiency. True, the result is a one-sided tape that cannot compete on equal terms with outstanding from all points of view cartoons like Pixar and Walt Disney masterpieces.
Formally, “The Sea Calls” can be called a story of confrontation between a vampire and vampire hunters, but it only comes to a climax in the fighting, and they are depicted as frivolously as possible - ridiculous, parody and without great threat to the heroes. So basically “Sea” is not a variation on the theme of “Van Helsing” and similar vampire fighters, but a resort farce about pranks at sea and on land, as well as about the birth of the novel and about family love and jealousy.
It would seem that this makes the tape addressed to adults rather than children, but Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation 4K does not climb into the psychological jungle, and there is more than enough naughty clownies in it to please the kids. In addition, the child-parent relationship between Mavis and Dracula and between Erica and her still-living great-grandfather plays in the picture almost a larger role than the romance of the main characters. So the guys in the plot will understand, and he does not seem to them far from their own problems. They can even take something out of it, although the “Sea” is not drawn as a moral, but as a purely entertaining tape.
Sony Pictures Animation is one of the world's leading computer animation studios, and from a technical point of view, “Sea is calling” looks great. Not "the best of all," but with the beauty, scope and attention to detail that distinguish the works of real Hollywood masters. Do not think that Tartakovsky limited the operation by the ship - the liner makes stops, so the picture turned out to be diverse. Heroes relax on the beach, swim with scuba and even visit Atlantis, which in the cartoon appears as a mixture of Las Vegas with ancient ruins, waiting for Indiana Jones. Well, or Count Dracula, who also knows how to search for treasure. How many, it turns out, he has talents!
