Review HDR10 BIT MOVIELet's go camping again. And suddenly like ...
For some unknown reason, but once confident and resourceful wizards from the DreamWorks Animation camp, it becomes more difficult to work on completely original projects, creating previously unseen worlds and characters. The days of the unconditional success of "Shrek" and its inimitable sequel have long passed, the best days of the incredible adventure of animals from the zoo, following to Madagascar, have ended, and the well-known panda Po has learned everything his master Shifu wanted to teach him. Trying to bring diversity to the stagnant pantheon of cartoon studios, animation directors and screenwriters DreamWorks Animation honestly tried to go beyond the proven franchises, but their efforts for the most part cause controversial issues. On one successful "Kruz Family" there are ambiguous "Turbo", "The Adventures of Mr. Peabody and Sherman", as well as very good-looking "Keepers of Legends", suffered an annoying cash register, cutting off any glimpses of the expected continuation. Nevertheless, the former glory and faith of fans in the success of the beloved studio continue to drive the animators forward, and now they have taken up the history of the trolls in the eponymous original cartoon.
The plot of "Trolls" is uncomplicated, and this circumstance can be regarded as the merits of history, and its tangible shortcomings. So, by the dictates of Mike Mitchell and Walt Dorn, we are transported to a fairy-tale world populated by eccentric multicolored creatures, the most notable of which are, of course, the trolls. At the head of the story is restless Rosochka (Anna Kendrick's original voice), unable to live an hour without the next song number. Every day the girl passes under the sign of an endless holiday, but we know something with you that the trouble will not take long. Behind the screen of songs and dances lies a long-time enemy, coming from distant dark distances. Once colorful trolls in the company of loyal comrades drove off the formidable Bergens far away, but in reality the security was imaginary and the return of monstrous monsters was inevitable ... The sudden attack of the bergen ends in horrific consequences. Many trolls were taken prisoner by the leader of the gang, and only little Rosochka is ready to rush into the chase to return relatives and comrades back to the rainbow world. So we are preparing to hike into unknown, dangerous and unpredictable lands with a known end.
Continuing work on traditionally entertaining, not foreshadowing a particularly dramatic load of cartoons, Mike Mitchell and Walt Dorn created a completely unpretentious colorful adventure, which has the property of very quickly erupting from the head. The two-dimensional story and not the most memorable characters do not even try to stay in memory longer than several hours after viewing, but during the session you are guaranteed to plunge headlong into an endless fireworks display from a good animated animation, iconic songs and simple, effective jokes that cause, if not loud laughter a restrained smile. The narrative is built in the format of a campaign for great achievements and no intriguing features of the "Trolls" can not boast. A comfortable story, excluding even minimal hints of cruelty and danger, develops along the beaten path of traditional family cartoons, delighting younger audiences and somewhat disappointing the older audience, who previously received their pleasure from the masterfully inserted in the plot of "Shrek 2" and "Semyuki Kruds" references to the popular culture. No, of course, Mitchell and Dorn made a lot of edits to the Trolley, seasoned the music with the songs of Justin Timberlake and Gwen Stefanie, but there is not the same sharpness and energy in the new cartoon DreamWorks Animation. Like the ruined prospects of "Home", "Trolls" look like a good cartoon for one, maximum two times, but no more.
Unequivocally positive moments of the cartoon include the excellent soundtrack, which, in addition to the songs of Timberlake and Stephanie, is noted by the melodious melodies of the composer Christoph Beck and the talent of the confident singer from the big movie Anna Kendrick, who casually got the role of Rosochka. The doubtful glory of Anna from participating in the so-called "Twilight" Saga, fortunately, has long since come to naught, and now the actress is known to us in the first place, as one of the brightest performers of the a-capello in the so far "Ideal Voice". According to the demand of the creators of the "Trolls", Kendrick had to saturate the image of her character with a lot of vocal numbers, and in this regard, the actress has no complaints. In her voice there is an adventurous pleasure from the work done, thanks to which the frankly secondary image of Rosa is filled with unexpected volume and emotional paints. For DreamWorks Animation "Trolls" become the most singing cartoon for all the years of studio existence, and I, in turn, want to note that the efforts of Mitchell, Dorn, Kendrick and their colleagues were not in vain. Weak dramaturgy and predictability are replaced by the motives of this carnival, which is sometimes so lacking in gaining the tragedy of cartoons from the leading companies of our time. At least some musical numbers from the cartoon will want to take a note and put on the list of constantly listening tracks.
Also pleased and drawing a magical world, filled with a fair amount of caricature. Competitors DreamWorks Animation consistently inform the public about victories on the technological front, thanks to which the line between art cinema and animation is gradually erased. I do not argue that such works as "The Good Dinosaur" surprise with the quality of painted landscapes, amazingly truthful flow of water and grass, in which I want to lie around. However, sometimes cartoons catastrophically lack the atmosphere of children's serenity, which for decades continues to be cultivated animator studio Geoffrey Katzenberg. Perhaps, demanding viewers will be disappointed by the deliberate trampling of DreamWorks Animation in one place, but still such tapes as "Trolls" are designed to give viewers an atmosphere of fabulous enthusiasm, remote from annoying realities. There's no point in blaming the producers for the inadequate funding of Mitchell and Dorn's tape, as it's just pointless. The authors of the "Trolls" performed their work focusing on the audience, able to throw off the aureole of adult bombast. Agree that sometimes we are very short of simple colorful animated cartoons that do not force anyone. And if the "Trolls" were at least a couple of points more intricate, then we would expect another guaranteed hit, able to acquire multiple sequels. But while the bright thoughts of the creators of the cartoon about the formation of the new franchise cause some concerns.
In the end, I want to say that the "Trolls" is an absolutely unnecessary extravaganza that can entertain not bad, and nothing more. You are unlikely to name the story of Rosa as your favorite animation adventure, but it's good to see that from watching the cartoon you will not get disappointed disappointment. DreamWorks Animation continues to produce projects that cause ambiguous, dual emotions, which is a little disappointing. However, the "Trolls" are not bad at the role of lightweight entertainment, not overloading the nervous system. So with a few caveats, I still recommend the cartoon to the viewing, because he can still bring positive thoughts.
