V for Vendetta 4K 2005 Ultra HD 2160p

Totalitarian England, conservative government, big brother, concentration camps. The troublemaker in the mask of Guy Fawkes, a conspirator who wanted to blow up parliament and became a popular scarecrow, leads (or maybe alone) the resistance movement and fights for freedom. He rescues a girl who accidentally (although that may be accidental) fell into the clutches of the local Gestapo, and she becomes his ally.

V for Vendetta 4K Review
Shakespeare wrote Macbeth about the assassination of the old king immediately after Guy Fawkes unsuccessfully tried to blow up parliament, which was to be visited by the incumbent king, heir and queen. All of Britain has been celebrating the salvation of kings for 400 years. As we have on Ivan Kupala, everyone swims naked, they all blow up something on Guy Fawkes. Well, crackers. Moreover, every Briton knows that Guy Fawkes was not at all the main one in the Gunpowder Plot, he was a young private. But, being hanged and then gutted, he was interested in Dickens, and recently Professor Dumbledore named him after his immortal parrot. Let the anti-government conspiracy was planned by the Jesuits, let Guy Fawkes later betrayed all his friends on the rack. Before torture, when talking to the king, he laughed and was not afraid of anything at all. Everyone present remembered a great sense of humor. It is this moment that is recorded in the famous mask. There is no need to explain freedom as mental health to the British.

The everlasting national allegory was once played by the artists Alan Moore and David Lloyd into today's political game, and the result is a comic strip. The rest of the details are not allegorical, but quite recognizable. A British dictator like Hitler, British camps like Kolyma, in America, as usual, there is a civil war, and action like Orwell is relegated to the foreseeable future. The further embodiment of the political game was done by such well-known types as a police inspector in a raincoat, a persecuted orphan, and a pederast showman. Plus the Pickwick scum club - a camp warden commenting on TV news, a sworn hypocrite, greedy for nymphets, an insane professor, the head of the KGB. Plus the masses drinking beer in pubs under five minutes of hatred. It turned out that such a small number of figures on the political board today can depict the entire set of situations on which the 20th century spent volumes of The Great Terror, The Gulag Archipelago or The Curse of the Swastika.

Unlike other comics about supermen and supergirls, the situation on the board tends only to the superphrase "Parliament must be blown up" (after all, Cato Sr. explained to Rome that Carthage must be destroyed). For its further clarity, McTeague, the Wachowski brothers and producer Joel Silver, in turn, had only to choose the most typical moments from the comics, insert characteristic performers into them and make a spectacle out of it. They did just that. In "V for Vendetta" it does not matter at all who sings in the toilet in the morning, how many children the dictator had, how many orphans the unknown soldier saved from gang rape. Everyone is singing, many have children, unknown soldiers always save someone. In the end, in order not to be blown up in parliament, it is quite enough for parliamentarians to blow it up themselves. The film doesn't want to convince anyone. Those who believe that the norm is when you are removed for mockery of the authorities, and the mockery itself is an anomaly, you still cannot convince that they are sick in the head. But in the film, it is fundamental that the comic dotted line of yesterday's camps, today's murders and tomorrow's freedom makes the scheme inscribed in the formula of V.Ya. Proppa. With one and only "post-propp" condition: the function of an orphan is to say "no" to a proposal that cannot be refused. After all, when the rat eats your throat, you will certainly follow "yes". But on common thought, she still has time to eat.

In the film, it is also fundamental that Natalie Portman turned out, as in the anecdote, not a "heroine", but a "characteristic", with all the variety of emotions, and with "V", on the contrary, they did not take off the mask so that the audience would not count on the "human too human. " So that your nose rested on your own "V" ("Feh"), but take it wider: all the figures are just masks for their performers. John Hurt was a hero in 1984 / Nineteen Eighty-Four / (1984), so the current dictator is his classic underside. Stephen Rea was married for 20 years to a terrorist from the IRA, who managed to give birth to three children for him in between visits to the zone, so it is convenient for his police inspector in a raincoat, like no one, to repeat: "I have been in the Party for 20 years," instead of answering questions. Stephen Fry, who plays a bugger showman, is also famous for the world record for the most "fuck" word in one live TV broadcast. By the way, in his youth he was also behind bars for counterfeiting credit cards. And even if all this is behind-the-scenes information, in the frame it is enough for these actors to show their faces, and everything is written on them very simply about human difficulties. Put these even on black velvet - the game of ideas is guaranteed.

But "V for Vendetta" did not get off with black velvet, did not miss the tricks and special effects. Only explosions with fires do not arise in a sequential presentation, but again in comic discontinuity, when a scarlet flower or a volume of the Koran is a trick equated to an explosion. The spectacle finally shapes the game, adding so many options that anyone can play, regardless of political beliefs. By the way, the film actually has two ends, quite in the "computer" spirit. For those who sing dissident songs (not to be confused with terrorists) - a happy ending, and for those who step up to Mikhalkov for the third time in their lives - a big personal drama. But if you focus on aesthetics, "V for vendetta" proves one significant thing. Life in the computer age isn't just easier for fools. Our era is quite compatible with the entire history of a culture that seems to have collapsed in the 20th century.

Moreover, the "crash" meant only the disintegration of the cocoon, from which something flies out, dazzlingly bright and beating like wings with a stunning speed.
