The Spy Who Dumped Me 4K Review
The Spy Who Dumped Me 4K is a difficult project. You do not even know what to start to criticize in the first place, because everything is bad here - from ridiculous dialogues to completely inept statement. The film can not determine the genre, hesitantly switching from the "spy thriller" to the "comedy", not fully understanding where it belongs. While watching, the tension is well felt, with which director Suzanne Vogel and David Iserson wrote the script, literally squeezing ideas out of themselves for the next plot twist and another unsuccessful joke. Perhaps at some moments you can sin on a bad dubbing, but judging by the general mood of the picture, in principle it is difficult to spoil something. Absolutely inappropriate jokes about Ukraine and Snowden, perhaps, will appeal to lovers of evening talk shows on national television, but in general, they only spoil the already deplorable situation.
Instead of responsibly approaching the matter and qualitatively registering the main characters, Vogel simply puts five-minute manifestos into Kate McKinon’s mouth, in which Morgan continually praises Audrey, sharpening the viewer's attention on the fact that she coped with the situation “better than any man.” Dear Susanna Vogel, well, why do so? If you have already decided to make a movie about unshakable female friendship with brisk and charismatic heroines in the center of the plot, then you should probably make sure that their actions speak for themselves and not force Kate McKinon to do your work. It is very great that Hollywood now pays a lot of attention to the fight against established stereotypes and gender inequality, but the Spy talks about it so head-on that it even becomes awkward.
By the middle of the film, glancing at the time and frowning awkwardly at Harvard and poop jokes, you begin to regret a little that you were born. Approximately 20 minutes before the end comes enlightenment, and you realize that life is given once and you simply cannot spend it on procrastination, the negative and the films of Suzanne Vogel. Boom: in the final credits you are a different person.
Kate McKinon, unfortunately, from the movie in the movie plays Kate McKinon of varying degrees of sillyness. The once-ambitious comedy actress from SNL, who became the charismatic center of the Ghostbusters reboot, does not want to change the role at all, and the spectator will get tired of it sooner or later. Mila Kunis, apparently, since the end of 2011, she has completely refused to act in projects that people will consciously decide to reconsider at least once. We should have started worrying about the future of the actress even after “Ascension of Jupiter”, but it seems to be too late. What Gillian Anderson has forgotten in the film - God only knows, the only thing she does here - it sometimes appears in the frame and raises an eyebrow strictly. But it's okay, Sam Hughes won in the film as the scenery used, and you almost never see Justin Theroux in the frame. In general, Vogel does not know how to use resources, not to mention sensible work with actors. It seems that the only people who knew exactly what they were doing on the set were stuntmen.
In general, The Spy Who Dumped Me 4K is one of those streaming comedies that immediately after hire fall into the darkness of online cinemas. After a couple of weeks, the viewer has difficulty remembering the existence of this film, and those who are not fortunate enough to get to a movie show will simply try to erase what they see from their memory as soon as possible.
