The Tolkienists have waited. There will be no negative reviews of the third episode of "The Lord of the Rings" here. Not being a Tolkienist, I still cannot offend the cute girls from the press room, who did not offend me personally. This does not mean at all that someone caved in at the rudeness and swearing words that for six months pursued the first two reviews of "The Lord of the Rings". Probably, the only reaction is possible to them - surprise, what a thrill the Tolkienists are catching, refining themselves, as if hurting a stranger more painfully. That is, lovers of guaranteed emotions also offend with a guarantee. An interesting fact, however, everything is a pluperfect.

So, the state of "Pushkinsky" for three hours of the VIP premiere of "The Return of the King". Not the whole audience laughed and cried, and applauded in unison, but many did it, and did it all three hours, and the hall was really overcrowded. Which is understandable not only for fans. Peter Jackson shoots a big and possible world, but the fact that at every moment the picture of a possible seemingly happening in something, but artificial, is his creative principle. He deliberately climbs the roadside - both in cities and nature, and in special effects, in dialogues, in working with actors. Jackson knows a rather curious thing: the artificiality immanent in the inner life of anyone in the 21st century. And if it is expressed so fully in the cinema, any adult will see a wonderful children's fairy tale in The Return of the King.

True, at first even the fans froze, which suddenly immediately Smeagol-Gollum not with Frodo and Sam on the way to Mordor, but in green grass and a hobbit appearance. But they quickly realized that such a third initiation of Jackson - a flashback about the visual degradation of personality - was logical due to the fact that Gollum was the biggest sensation of the second series. Then the audience began to admire. If we take into account the volume statistics, the most thunderous applause was heard on the stages with fire. When the governor of Gondor tried to burn his native Faramir alive, but burned himself, and when the same Gollum with a ring sank into fiery hell. Well, this is all the more understandable. They also applauded a lot when Elrond appeared in Theoden's tent at the walls of Minas Tirith and, finally, persuaded Aragorn to become himself, that is, the king of Gondor. And when Aragorn finally kissed Arwen in the finale. The loudest laughter, respectively, sounded in two places - both associated with Pippin. Giving him his last cigars before parting, little Merry remarked, as it were from our everyday world: "Pip, you smoke too much." And at the threshold of the governor, Gandalf warned: "Denethor is Boromir's father. In general, you better be silent all the way, Peregrin Took. "

The most exciting for the audience was the last third of the timing with battle and more battle. The fact is that the entire film was edited in parallel. The path of Frodo, Sam and Gollum to Mount Doom with a correspondingly unfolding chamber drama of lust for power and slander, simple and convex, was constantly interspersed with demonstratively epic battle and crowd scenes when Gandalf, Gimli, Legolas and Aragorn, together with Theoden, prepare to repel the attack of the orcs and ... And when Frodo's drama reached a kind of internal intensity, it went parallel to the battle with dragons, catapults, ships and ghosts, and such a montage at a purely physiological level guarantees indifference. In addition, a rhythmic postscript was prepared for the most skeptical minds. After the victory, Gandalf no longer "feels" Frodo, and the terrible eye of Sauron is still burning and burning. Business, then, is tobacco, and the whole fraternity decides on a red herring. There, too, there was applause - when Frodo and Sam almost climbed the mountain, and their eye almost destroyed them, but the Black Gate opened before the united forces of the brotherhood, a distracting battle rang out, and the eye turned away.

Of course, due to the abundance of what is happening, the rhythm is rather slow, besides, Jackson works a lot for the fans. Many close-ups - especially those of Arwen - directly involve the simultaneous mental citation of the novel. That is, a person knows by heart and is waiting for an illustration to the adored text. However, the rhythm is noticeable. When the earth's axis "creaked," it did not stand either. Well, Arwen's oddities are forgiven by the amazing combination of Liv Tyler's eye color and the color of her scarf. The only thing with which, I think, even fans will not reconcile - is already purely cinematic illustrativeness of the very, very finale. After long hours of darkness and gloomy flames, on the one hand, it is very attractive to return to the sunny Shire, where everything is so good and green. The grace of peaceful Middle-earth is, in principle, pleasing to the eye. On the other hand, all the plot workings: with Bilbo, the book, the sailing and the creation of Sam's family, and now the children have gone - are given purely by listing. Just one after another, patter, without an inner core, "just to be in time." It is non-cinematographic.

But even for the most skeptics, the whole movie was also something to look at. Just imagine tired serious businessmen who have been gathering for years, are going to take their family to the cinema and will never get together. They hadn't seen Pirates of the Caribbean or any Power of Fire or Spider Attack. It clearly makes sense for them to go to The Return of the King. Until new technologies. All the curious special effects of all the films listed and many more in recent years are collected here, like in a catalog, and also like a new world. Flying dragons. Spider in a cave. Ghosts from the mountains. My favorite type of horse is Orcs (I can't remember what they are called). Medieval cities carved into the rock. Handmade narrow streets and marble palaces.

Scary black fireball. A totally luxurious electric eye. And all this - next to natural, genuine, white, black, brown, piebald proud horses. There is, there is something to dream about.
