"Transformers: Rise of the Beastie Boys" is the seventh film in the Transformers cinematic universe, and a sequel to Travis Knight's "Bumblebee." According to the creators, the plot of the picture will focus on the character of Optimus Prime, and the action of the franchise will move to New York in the early 90s. The main characters are two archaeologists who will accidentally come into conflict with an ancient civilization, which gave birth to maximalists, preacons and terrorcons. The director of "Transformers: Rise of the Beastie Boys" is Steven Capel Jr, director of the sitcom "Growing Up" and the sequel "Creed". The voice of Optimus Primal will give Ron Perlman. The tape will have at least two sequels, which are already in development.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts 4K ReviewThe new movie, Transformers: Rise of the Beastie Boys, has finally been presented to the world. Behind my back have been passed many Bay movies and many animated series throughout this universe. I've been actively following the announcements of the 7th Transformers movie (or the second in the new universe ) since April. Yes, it's worth clarifying that Transformers: Rise of the Beastie Boys is a continuation of the new universe that began with Bumblebee, a very second-rate movie.
Did the movie live up to my expectations? No. But that's about it.
Characters and big picture.
The design for all the robots was a mix - from G1 (Prime, Arcee, Nightbird and Baywatch (Bumblebee), but there were a lot of characters with their own, already Stevenverse design and detailing with a roughly realistic look of the robot alien that could presumably be in reality. Overall not bad except for a couple things
1) Why did they have to turn the standard G1 design of Wheeljack, which was already leaked in the Bumblebee movie, into some other design altogether. I won't say the new design is bad, but in my subjective opinion it's so-so.
2) Optimus Prime's face, without a mask his face is ugly, in Baywatch it was better.
And so in general it is normal, Mirage, Arcee, Skurge in general liked most of all.
Plot
There are a lot of questions here. Let's start with the good.
Thank you very much to the writers for finally deciding to shift all the attention from Bumblebee to Mirage. Mirage is an artsy, positive, brave, a little weird, and very funny robot. This is clearly what the universe has been missing, Bumblebee is already making us sick.
The storyline itself develops in principle with interest, but the movie is somehow more childish than Bay's movies.
Now on the minuses
The cast, not bad, but they play again in my subjective opinion weak. The way Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, John Turturro played out was a work of art. This cast is clearly losing to the Bay people of the first 2-3 movies, but maybe that was the writers' intention. It's just that sometimes the scenes with the humans seem unrealistic and childish.
Maximals, i.e. Zverobots - the idea with them is cool, realization in principle is also good, but they were not shown much in robot form, I didn't even see them, except for maybe Primeal, the rest I didn't see at all.
Many characters suddenly disappeared from the frame took only indirect part in the plot. Stratosphere was given 2 scenes, Wheeljack probably 1, why was he there then. Well, the rest of them seemed to get some attention.
In short, everything is very controversial.
Russian voiceover crinjovy, I do not know the dialog in the original. But they were able to properly convey only the words of Mirage, the rest were cliched phrases.
Music
Zero, Baywatch completely beats Stevenwatch in this regard.
There is not a single memorable track. They only tried to more or less raise their ratings by recalling 2-3 tracks from previous movies. Baywatch had epic soundtracks in the story and Linkin Park was the cherry on the cake, nothing special or memorable here.
In summary, the movie is weak in my subjective opinion. But it is clearly better than the movie Bumblebee, here undoubtedly, in many ways can compete with Bay, but also far from perfect. To viewing in principle I would recommend. Assessment with a strong stretch and maybe even overestimated, I expected more in terms of musical content, acting and the characters themselves.
