In the country Amestris alchemy is widespread as an exact science. Two brothers, Edward and Alphons Elric, tried to resurrect a dead mother with their children using alchemy, but paid for it in Fullmetal Alchemist 4K. The elder lost an arm and a leg, the younger one lost his whole body, although at the very last moment was miraculously saved — his brother tied his soul to steel knightly armor. Fullmetal Alchemist 4K - now the two brothers - the first with steel prostheses, the second - just talking armor - are looking for the philosopher's stone to return the body of Alphonse.
Fullmetal Alchemist 4K Review
So, Fullmetal Alchemist 4K - here it is a film in which few people believed even at the stage of development. Even in the trailers, wigs seemed too artificial, people dressed up under their characters were caricature clowns, and special effects seemed to be the main bulging dignity. It was as if from the very beginning they were trying to say: “Well, you understand that nothing good will come of it, so here’s at least an action, enjoy.”
It’s not quite clear for whom the film was made: for third-party viewers there are a couple of confusing moments that even me, who was familiar with two TV shows, were put into a stupor; for fans, this is too simplified version of their favorite story.
Advantages of the picture:
No “gallop across Europe”! Thank God cinema, these smart people decided to make several films, and not to push everything into one. It is not known what the whole story would be about the alchemist brothers, if manga events tried to adapt to the two-hour timekeeping. In this film, they focused on some key points: the Tucker family, Dr. Marko and laboratory N5. For one movie, events are more than enough. It is a pity that there was no, for example, Scar, but would it have won the film, try the writers to shove his line as well?
Scenery and costumes. Wigs are wigs, but suits are on the five. Especially in the military, it is nice to watch. Yes, and the situation - all these cobbled streets, steam trains, flags with familiar from anime signs - promotes immersion. Yes, and the similarity of the characters on the originals rather happy.
Some characters. Fullmetal Alchemist 4K - recognizable not only externally. Hughes did not finish off, but he is still so cute and smiling uncle that every appearance in the frame is like the exit of the sun from behind the clouds. The homunculi are convincing. Alphonse ... it is difficult to find fault with him, but he seemed to me the same as always. Roy Mustang rejoiced with determination and courage, and Lisa Hokay is still the same dedicated clever girl. Unexpected expansion of Tucker's role. Not that it strongly influenced something, but I don’t mind such a look at this character.
Sequence of actions: I did not see the boils. Events evolve consistently, and it is ... interesting. I will lie if I say that the film was not interesting to watch, even knowing the story in advance. Although the plot has problems, but more on that below.
