Renny Harlin deserved such a characteristic or not, but the director, who reaped his fame in the hardcore field of spectacular action films, has long been out of order. Judging by the Hamburg score, from the time of "Mind Hunters" the Finn has not had worthy pictures. To understand the difference between the present-day Harlin and the former-Harlin, it suffices to compare the eerie, to the limit politicized Dyatlov Pass Mystery and the real classic of the old school era - Cliffhanger 4k. These pictures are taken as if by different people. And returning to one of the best tapes with Sylvester Stallone, we have to once again state that somewhere in the Cordillera a significant part of directing skills remained.

If we discard sentiments and muffle the insistent voice of nostalgia, then we can see that Cliffhanger 4k was more necessary for Slay, because Harlin was already on the crest of popularity after the successful Die Hard 2. However, it is much more important that the fighter with a bias in adventures not only "dried" the wet reputation of the American-Italian, but also once again confirmed his actor's versatility. Rescuer Gabe Walker, performed by Sylvester, is no superman, as if stacking the bad guys at the logging site in stacks, but a simple man who has become a strict judge after a tragic accident in the mountains. Having fallen into the trap set by the crashed terrorists, Cliffhanger behaved approximately the same way as any professional who faced an abnormal situation would have done. Whichever way you look, and the icy Cordillera is an even more dangerous adversary than the bunch of armed criminals led by the psychopath Quaylen. The preparation strengthened by composure works real miracles, which become a revelation not only for the bandits, but also for the former friend.

The collision on the snowy peaks of Sylvestre Stallone and Michael Rucker was another proof of the theory that two tough guys will not necessarily be cramped in one movie. The popularity of the actors, of course, was not comparable neither in the nineties, nor now, but the interesting relationship between the climbers, who were strongly embroiled in the death of the girl, became an additional support for Renny Harlin. Gabe and Hal are similar in many respects, and the intervention of a common enemy makes men realize the non-aging truth - you can only survive by acting together. Nor do the specific circumstances of the fight against terrorists matter. Thanks to skillful direction, the importance of thinking in one direction and the need to forget about disagreements at the critical moment is emphasized. And the fact that the mountains are much more gracious to those who had the opportunity to study them, even speaking once again is not worth it.
