Pokemon Detective Pikachu 4K ReviewTim Goodman (Justice Smith) is a 21-year-old guy living in a small town where all his few friends and acquaintances left. The last friend, before leaving the dull abode, drags him into the forest under the pretext of a walk “like in childhood”, but in fact, in order to lasso Pokemon 4K Kyubo. He disgusted yells and brandishes a bone, but Tim still agrees to a stupid adventure, throws a pokeball and catches a little animal. Kyubo is not at all disposed to friendship, and the very next minute he crawls out of the ball with the intention of crippling the one who burst into his roulades.
As a child, Tim really wanted to become a Pokémon 4K trainer, but it didn’t work out: at first his mother died of a serious illness, then his father moved to another city, and the fuse faded. The guy was eventually raised by his grandmother, and relations with dad became colder over time, until they turned into a mournful insensibility. But life, or rather death, makes its own adjustments: one far from perfect day, they call Tim and inform him that his father died in an accident. In order to settle all the formalities, the guy has to go to Rime City - a metropolis where Pokemon 4K and people, unlike other places on earth, live side by side.
The first (and until recently the last) time that Nintendo transferred the rights to the adaptation of its franchise turned into the film "Mario Super Brothers", which brought neither joy nor money. This happened in 1993, and only at the end of the tenths, the company decided to try number two. The option was chosen almost win-win: Pikachu and his friends.
Then everything was assembled according to the classical scheme: a strong craftsman in the director's chair (before that, Letterman had shot the successful Underwater Brothers and the wonderful film “Horror”), the cast of actors neatly colored by the masters (Bill Nyei and Ken Watanabe in the background) and another mini victory of high technology over common sense. Add the actual star behind the scenes (Pikachu speaks in the voice of Ryan Reynolds) and a powerful nostalgic effect - here they are, your plans for the weekend, with a bucket of popcorn and younger relatives. True, the guys no longer had the strength for the sane script, but no one really counted.
For those who did not collect pokemon Ultra HDR chips in childhood and did not dream of seeing Ash Ketchum (or Misty) in their passports, this whole idea may seem like pure stupidity. In principle, she is stupid: a typical story about how an outsider finds himself and begins to believe in peace, friendship, love, quickly turns into a mess of twists. Around scum, conspiracy, genetic experiments. Slyly human heart. Pokemon, you can do anything.
All the animals are “made” perfectly, each has his own crowned exit, and the episode with the interrogation of Mr. Maim is genius in general: there is tension, plastic, and excellent visual humor. Pikachu drags the whole film on his tail, because poor Justice Smith was forgotten to write something other than confusion and intuitive heroism, but people are not the main thing. The main thing is funny and touching Pokémon Ultra HDR that crowd push this clumsy, clumsy plot, entertain us with candy jokes and make us remember the times when the main tragedy in life was not to be in time for the desired series home. Watching this film is how to accidentally open a box where colored candy wrappers, soda lids, inserts, smooth pebbles and other greetings from childhood are stored. There is no need for this, but it’s nice, right?
