At this time, Sonic, hiding in the barn, stumbles upon the local police sheriff Tom Wachowski (James Marsden) and, word for word, loses his teleporting rings (during an absurd incident they find themselves on the roof of one of the skyscrapers of San Francisco). Now, an ambitious cop and a young hedgehog with a dissocial personality disorder will have to get to San Francisco together without getting into Robotnik's clutches.

"Sonic", which has not yet reached our box office, has already made a noise in his native America - the film, contrary to all expectations, set a box-office record for the first weekend among all video game adaptations. Having overtaken (ha!) Both the very successful Detective Pikachu and some Warcraft, the latter, however, was not difficult, given that he had collected absolutely nothing in the USA.

The reason for this success, I think, is competent PR: people remember very well how Paramount selflessly decided on additional expenses in order to fix the CGI viewers who didn't like in the shortest possible time. This gesture - seemingly positive from all sides - says a lot about the film and its authors, and not from the best side. "Sonic in the cinema" demonstrates with all his being the intention to please everyone, so that, God forbid, not upset or distort a single spectator.

This is an absolutely sterile movie, in which there is not a hint of fantasy, not a single sharp corner. What is there, there is no angle in it - "Sonic" is streamlined, amorphous, it is like a boggart (but not mythical, Rowling), which adapts to each viewer, but does not represent exactly any matter. It may sound like a compliment - they say, if so, the film, it turns out, is universal - but for the universal it is too superficially passed through the taste buds of different generations. For the smallest there are dances from Fortnite, for their parents - grimacing, as in the best years, Jim Carrey. Indeed, by the way, it is wildly charismatic: it's a shame that with his comic comeback he chose a movie that was as unworthy as possible.

Even the ideological core gives out this setting: the next ode to friendship and the importance of the family, sung by the film without any regard for the fact that its script does not support his main idea in any way. Sonic in the Movies is the worst manifestation of Hollywood commerce in its pure, soulless form. It will sound strange, but the worst part in the film is that it is not even bad. He is tolerant just enough to easily collect money from parents and their children, justifying any stupidity and banality by the mantra "well, the film is for children!", Forgetting that both Pixar and Ghibli are also, in general, for children. Yes, there Pixar, "Detective Pikachu" was also for children, and this did not stop him from being stupid (or at least not so stupid) and a very plastically talented film.

"Sonic" is made exactly so talented not to be technically and cinematically backward. This is a great example of what the video essayist Nerdwriter called the "passing film epidemic" - a movie made according to the pattern of his predecessors (in this case, obviously, the "Alien" by Spielberg and all similar paintings) and exploiting the love of viewers for familiar stories, heroes and clichés . It would be better, honestly, to continue shooting video game adaptations by Uwe Boll: who really had enough sharp corners.
