A commercial spaceship crashes on an inhospitable desert planet. But the troubles do not end there. The extremely dangerous criminal Riddick (Diesel), who was transported on the ship, escapes during the crash, and now over the people who survived, there is a tangible threat of attack from him. Events take on an even more disgusting turn when survivors find underground caves teeming with deadly night creatures. You might think that there will be no problems if you stay away from these caves, but the planet is about to be covered by a shadow from a prolonged solar eclipse, and in a matter of hours it will be flooded with these bloodthirsty monsters. Thanks to the operation that Riddick was subjected to in prison, he is able to see in the dark, and the group has to entrust him with their lives, which normally should not be done.
Pitch Black 4K ReviewI reviewed the film 'Pitch Black' the other day. Many years ago, he made an unexpectedly pleasant impression and was remembered for many, many years, which is not the case with every film in my practice. Now the impression is ambiguous, but it is!
The spaceship plows the sky, is controlled by an autopilot, the crew and passengers sleep in suspended animation. Suddenly, something went wrong: an emergency situation arose on the ship, the captain was killed, the remaining crew wakes up and, in an emergency, is forced to manually land the ship on an unfamiliar, but it is immediately clear that it is not a very welcoming planet.
At first it seems that this is a mediocre space horror movie, I did not expect much from the film. But gradually I got carried away.
The unknown planet turned out to be very atmospheric. White sands, a bunch of gigantic skeletons, a couple of dead trees, many-meter 'wells' of unknown purpose, all of the same sand and not a soul. Three scorching suns and the absence of night add even more despondency to this lifeless world.
The characters turned out to be characteristic, it is immediately clear who is who. The boys were not particularly remembered, but the imam was "blown away" for them. The rest ... Each with its own character, distinctive features. The authors managed to gather a company of different people who, although forcedly, became a community, and not a crowd for extras.
The actors did their best too. In places they overplayed, in places they acted according to the template, but in general they coped, I think. They showed their heroes, revealed their relationships with each other. Well, as it seems to me, one should not expect from them a deep penetration into the role or some kind of subtle play here.
But dialogues are tough! Although there may be more questions for translation. But most likely the original does not shine there either. Either with pathos too much, now with stupid remarks, incomprehensible reactions, empty phrases. There, if you don't say half out loud, then it certainly won't be worse. Although there are cool dialogues too (Diesel has most, of course).
At first glance, the film is about how a group of people can survive in a deadly situation, and although everyone is so strong, one tough maine is still stronger and saves everyone else. Surprisingly, the film doesn't stop there. Here it is about people, and about relationships, about choice and about responsibility, and about the willingness to sacrifice oneself for the sake of others.
