A robotics company teams up with a corrupt CIA agent undergoing an illegal, unsanctioned military operation. Dropping four prototype robots into a suspected drug manufacturing camp in the Golden triangle that no one will miss. The mission is to prove the robotics company is worthy of winning a lucrative military contract. Six doctors on a good cause witness the brutal slaughter of an innocent village and are forced into a deadly game of cat and mouse as they become the new targets.
Monsters of Man 4K ReviewIt turns out that the case of Neil Blomkamp 'lives and flourishes' (that director is from Africa, and this one is from Australia). Briefly about the plot. A group of 4 robots parachute into the jungle on the border of Kampuchea (Cambodia) and Vietnam to destroy a group of drug dealers, but unfortunately a group of American volunteer doctors arrives at the same place. The robots find their target and begin to destroy, including the wives and children of drug traffickers, and along with the doctors.
An unexpected obstacle in the mission was the presence of an American Marine (in the village of drug plant guards), as well as an artificial intelligence that woke up in one of the robots. The surprising fact for me was that the director of the film, Mark Toya, is also his operator, and his wife is the producer. A sort of family contract (for the sake of economy, obviously). Despite trying to save money on movie stars, the little-known actors have done a great job (probably as with 'LOST'). No one overestimates or screams (screams) more than necessary.
Great 3D graphics (and this is in a jungle full of grass and trees, where it is inconvenient, damn it, to stretch green screens). Some still survive at the end of the film, but this is not a happy ending - even more killer robots have been built. In the course of the film, people are dying from the hands of CIA robots and mercenaries: they slip, break their legs, arms, lose limbs - no 'miraculous healings' like 'got up, smiled and ran on' *. Maybe such a harsh naturalism and the lack of cheap pathos scared Hollywood advertisers? Here's a movie they would be filming with us ... Then in Russia the film crew would be carried in their arms, and the president would also personally congratulate (well, like those who rolled into orbit and back for 2.5 billion), but ..., unfortunately we do not have such yet ...
The film may seem close to Russian audiences due to its anti-war spirit, strong technical component, excellent acting and Kalashnikov assault rifles that flicker favorably throughout the film.
