In 1930, a film crew led by the director-loser Karl Denham sent to the mysterious Skull Island near Sumatra to study the legends of a giant gorilla named Kong. Upon arrival, they discover that King Kong is true. Gorilla lives in the most often impassable jungle, where besides him, hidden from the whole world, many creatures from prehistoric times dwell. The researchers find themselves between two fires - on the one hand King Kong, and on the other - his enemies the dinosaurs ...
Monstro.
Of course, remakes in the movies are very necessary. Time does not spare both people and films, which means that they need to be updated with each generation. The purpose of remakes is not even to modernize any old picture, but to rethink it. After all, times change, ideas about life change, and even culture changes, so many long-shot films now seem rather old-fashioned, although they are very fond of. So the cinema, especially Hollywood, will never calm down with remakes, it will do everything in its own way: from classics to foreign films. By the way, the classics are not always worth touching, you see, sometimes it is the one that has been checked by time and irreplaceable for a long time. I hope that many cinematographers understand this perfectly. But I thought: with every decade there are more and more remakes, and every time there is less reason to re-create any old film ... Suddenly, the remakes will be unnecessary? After all, if it's about special effects and quality, then at the present time, you can shoot any decent blockbuster, which in comparison with the original is simply a masterpiece of cinema art. Suddenly, mankind will reach the limit of perfection in the cinema, and do not have to alter the classics any more? Agree that for about 50-100 years "Avatar" by James Cameron can and will become a classic of the genre and revolutionary special effects, but it will not be altered. What for? This is a dead end, it's senseless to re-shoot a quality blockbuster! So in the future, remakes, for sure, will be created only on the grounds of dramas and horror films.
One of the oldest classic films that needed a remake - "King Kong HDR 4k UHD". Of course, this is not even a film, it's a legend, a fairy tale about an unusual and very faithful love between a huge gorilla and a small, fragile and charming woman. Back in 1933, the world's first motion picture appeared on a similar theme, and at that time special effects were almost shocking. Now the movie looks like a puppet show, but then it was a revolution. That's why the "King Kong HDR 4K" Merian K. Cooper and Ernest B. Shodsak was one hundred percent classics of cinema. Naturally, with the development of visual effects began to appear and remakes. "King Kong" in 1976, again shot in America, was a pretty good film with ridiculous, but in those days just great special effects, but the creation of John Guillermin was still not a complete perfection, and in general the film could be much better. And only in 2005 appeared a worthy and best remake, which became cult and just left no chance of further reworking the legendary history. Peter Jackson - one of the most influential and cult directors of the XXI century since childhood, dreamed of himself making a story about the giant gorilla, because he was very interested in special effects. And Peter's wish came true, or rather, the director himself did it with diligence and with patience, presenting the audience with the modern "King Kong 4K": spectacular, pathos, beautiful and touching.
Everyone loved the picture: enthusiastic spectators and contented film critics, which is more than fair. It's a pity that the budget paid off at the box office only twice, although it could triple. Anyway, the new "King Kong" fully endorsed and recognized as the best of all that was. And, of course, the film made another revolution in the field of special effects, albeit small, for which he earned the deserved "Oscar". Again, the tape is the limit of perfection, which means that further remakes about King Kong simply do not make sense. And, undoubtedly, it's very pleasant that the last remake was exactly the creation of the truly talented Peter Jackson.
What is typical for the director, the timing of the picture is insanely great: three hours! But what kind of ... The story of the monkey and the girl in this movie has just an epic scale, in which there is a cozy place and drama, action and pathos. When viewing the viewer sees on the screen is not stupid American blockbuster, shot for big money, but a beautiful and high-quality offspring of cinema, which respects the classics a little reinterprets it and thus only embellishes. The film retained all the key elements of the legendary history, without violating the main plot.
But to make it more spectacular and rich, the creators seem to have mixed "Jurassic Park" and "King Kong" itself, resulting in a rich and exciting story about the mysterious island of the Skull, which is not just the house of a gigantic gorilla and wild natives, but also the land ancient dinosaurs and tremendous insects. In short, this is a real hell for a person. After all, the main danger lurks not in a monkey overgrown and not in a tribe of savages, but in the jungle, which is inhabited by very hungry lizards. Why do many creatures attack our heroes? Yes, because they are driven by the natural instincts of survival, which attract hunting. We, people, eat not because we want, but because we need, but dinosaurs eat for one reason: they are insanely hungry. And every day for them is a bubbling in the stomach and thoughts of succulent meat. So whether it's a small tiropod or a tremendous tirranosaur, people like it.
Naturally, the man himself is the most inhumane here. In the film there are a lot of touching scenes in which viewers understand: after all, humanity is unstable against wealth, power, glory. And first of all, people are not motivated by intuition and not by the heart, but by principles, which sometimes afflicts.
It's funny that when creating truly colorful and very plausible special effects, an effective and often used motion capture was used. So, for example, Cong himself performed the irreplaceable Andy Serkis stuffed with sensors, a guy who played everyone's favorite Gollum.
Is it difficult to imagine a brunette in King Kong's paws? And how! That's why in the film the main character is again a blonde, performed by the charming Naomi Watts. The actress is unprecedented in this role, her heroine has a hard time (still one-third of the film her monkey is always shaking), but in every frame she looks charming and beautiful. Adrian Brody is also different in his heroic image of a brave and in love person. But most of all pleased charismatic Jack Black, who, it turns out, is able to play not only comedic, but also dramatic roles. Here he performs a crazy and very stubborn cinematographer, not without comic.

"King Kong" is a legend, it's a cult, it's a touching story of unusual love, and in the end it's a masterpiece. Peter Jackson created a truly amazing picture with great special effects and a decent storyline. The limit of perfection? Yes.
