Inferno 2016

Professor Robert Langdon regains consciousness in one of the Italian hospitals, completely losing his memory. Local doctor Sienna Brooks is trying to help Robert not only to restore memories, but also to stop the mysterious intruders who intend to spread the deadly virus. The solution of the mysterious history is connected with "Inferno" (it's Inferno) - the first part of the "Divine Comedy" of Dante.

The opinion of two people about the film

Tonya: Back in 2007, I met Dan Brown's world and he simply devoured me. Seeing the first screen version of the "Da Vinci Code" (on an old and good DVD-ROM), I discovered an interest in this kind of genre and rushed to buy up various books of the series, and then look forward to the release of new works. By the way, to re-read the book after the movie for me is not particularly interesting, but first read it, and then look - yes, only, as a rule, it is not always crowned with success. Returning to my love triangle with Dan Brown and Robert Langdon, I note that "Angels and Demons" have become for me a brilliant adaptation of the book. I liked everything. Then there was a long lull in the screen versions, but not in the creation of novels. By the way, like the majority, the Digital Fortress was not given to me. I did not even finish reading it halfway, although I can not stand the habit of throwing books half way. But then one success after another: "The Lost Symbol" and "Inferno" were read in awe, generating idioms in my brain, drawing incredibly colorful pictures of countries and their cities, thanks to detailed descriptions of places, temples, streets and houses. Not to mention scientific reflections and incredible facts.

Thus, the story of Robert Langdon became the reference book of my adolescence, inspiring me to scientific discoveries and travels, became the ideal of my inner world.

I was waiting for the release of Inferno from the first random trailer in front of one of the movie nights. Finally, we ended up on the long-awaited premiere, although before that I had already listened to a bunch of negative reviews. Therefore, if at first I expected a lot from the film, then, after hearing the negative, I was basically ready for everything.

I'll try in order to highlight the main points. 1) I do not know why, I felt a little offended that the main idea of the film was laid out at the very beginning. So simple? I remember that somewhere in the middle of the book it became an interesting discovery for me, prompted in me a whole storm of reflections and contradictions. I just adored to start discussions on this topic in different companies.

2) for what I like the genre of adventure and science fiction - it's because your brain from the first minute of the film to the end is in constant tension, catching the connection between the rapidly evolving events, phrases, symbols, with which the film is saturated, memorizing the names and face, because in the end it all necessarily takes shape in a single puzzle and if you miss something, the picture will no longer be so bright and impressive. And yet you get a certain cultural education, learning Latin, Italian, Biblical stories and other religious directions, the origin of many words and customs, getting acquainted with the most famous frescoes and realizing that Art is something very deep, multifaceted, exciting and even incredible. I believe that a book or a film can be considered really successful when a reader or a spectator, after getting to know them, checks the facts he has heard or writes out certain phrases and terms. Personally, I did. 3) Tom Hanks. In my opinion, this person is ideally suited to the role of Robert Langdon. The feeling that Brown was writing this image from the actor is so harmonious in his performance. 4) one day I will definitely be in the Vatican / Rome / Florence and be sure to follow the route of Robert Langdon. In my turn, during the "Da Vinci Code" I experienced very pleasant emotions, recognizing the corridors of the Louvre. 5) All three films are shot by one director, so that a single handwriting and style can be traced. For me, this is a plus. 6) Yes, the book is stronger. It's hard to argue here. But then she's a book with 600 pages. It's a pity that those moments that did not fit into the film or not fully revealed, but after all, Potter and the Hobbit can also be blamed for this. So I say this: if you have nothing to complain about, then you do not have to say obvious things and wait for the supernatural, but try to simply enjoy history and adventure, traveling and solving cool puzzles together with a beautiful protagonist.

Oleg: Literally before visiting the cinema they decided to revise the "Da Vinci Code" and "Angels and Demons" and, looking ahead, I note that maybe in Inferno it's not so all twisted, but it's still interesting to watch the intricacies of the plot. Honestly, I found myself in a much more advantageous position than Tonya, since I do not know the original source, but the damn annoying widespread thesis "the book is better" (yeah, yeah, everyone knows about it, enough about it screaming at every corner ) - the reason for the main claims and, accordingly, the low ratings of Inferno - still influenced her perception a little. It has long been time to learn to abstract from this axiom and evaluate the cinema and the book as two separate kinds of art.

At the age of 17, I was fortunate enough to visit a two-week trip through Italy. From that it was incredibly nice to contemplate the magical Florence and Venice as my beloved European country in Inferno. The operator Salvatore Totino, who also shot the spectacular Everest, coped well with the task, and I seemed to have visited these wonderful places in all respects (as Tonya already noted, it was hard for me to hold myself while watching this, so as not to boast of this fact). The plot of the film about the general overpopulation of our planet is secondary and met in a variety of works, both in literature and in cinema, but to this day this issue does not lose its relevance, but on the contrary - is rapidly gaining momentum. From this, the basic idea of the main protagonist can be understood by any educated person. Yes, he does not have the right to dispose of the destinies and lives of people, but there arises a contradictory question: is he wrong in his actions? The ultimate goal is correct, but methods are not acceptable. "Inferno" I did not read, yes, but in childhood one of my brightest books was "Divine Comedy" from the publishing house "Belfax". A clear statement of the text with incredibly colorful illustrations forever cut into my memory. I still with time with pleasure leaf through this book.

In the movie "Divine Comedy" Dante Alighieri is the main leitmotif. Langdon's visions on this subject were very useful and possessed the most otherworldly and frightening atmosphere, but personally we wanted a greater disclosure of the topic in the film.

Of the obvious drawbacks I will note: the final brawl is rather strange and faked. Also Professor Langdon shares the throne of knowledge with Dr. Felicity Jones and from this his key importance is downgraded. Well, the very unshakable Jamsbonds' elusiveness of the main characters by various secret specials. also causes some doubt.
