"Walking dead" still keep the bar, but this is probably the only worthy work in this sub-genre. And then the screens are a new part of the series "Resident Evil", the previous film which was released four years ago. Of course, you can always bring something new, launch a franchise or the universe from the very beginning. But not in our case: "The last chapter" begins as well as any other sequel of the protracted series - everything that was in the culmination of the previous part is ignored.

It can not be said that the plot of the "Last Chapter" came out worthy or at least adequate. Of course, there are a few curious story twists, but they did not really need it. Sometimes it seemed to me that the plot here is needed simply as an excuse for massacres. And the implementation pumped up: none of the secondary characters is sympathetic, they seemed to have been taken out of the box with the name "cannon fodder"; dull screamers, completely inappropriate in the case of the atmosphere of the world, where the battle with millions of dead men alive is in the order of things; and, finally, plot exaggerations. The latter, of course, has always been a special feature of the "Resident Evil" as a series, but in the case of the "Last Chapter" the creators clearly overdid it.

The main advantage of the film is really "the last chapter", as it was christened by the creators. I mean, it's the sixth part that is consistent with the very first film of the series better than any other of the four previous sequels. For the first time in a franchise, history develops precisely in the direction that the first part of the series has set, even without the chamberiness of what is happening. It feels like Anderson was holding back and not revealing many of the secrets of the series in the previous parts deliberately, having in mind a single concept. What was previously considered as story holes and illogical twists of the plot, received a full explanation. Alas, the "last chapter" by its nature itself is an illogical turn of the plot and is also stuffed with story holes. And this time, not from the desire to create intrigue, but, I think, because of the raggedness of Paul Anderson, who prepared the script in a hurry due to the studio's strict requirements to release the film for the release of a new part of the video game.

I also remember stunt work and visual stylistics. Let many victims of genetic experiments look absurd here, anyway, we can summarize that zombie dragons and infernal dogs are at least original.

On the acting game. Unlike someone like Kate Beckinsale, who, due to fatigue, shows a pale actor in the main competitor of the franchise "Resident Evil" - "The Other World", Mila Jovovich still has explosive enthusiasm. Even after 15 years in the image of Alice, she still brings enough energy and drive into the film, not to mention the demonstration of a threatening sight. The rest of the actors, except, in fact, the charismatic daughter of Jovovich in the role of the Red Queen, are not remembered. Even Ian Glen was somehow tired.

Did Anderson finish his milk cow? With all due respect to his other projects ("The Mortal Battle", "Through the Horizon"), he became popular and popular precisely thanks to the "Resident Evil". Let the script this time make vague steps to logically complete the story, conceptually "The Last Chapter" does not differ from the other pictures of the series. Buildings explode, villains writhe in pain and lose limbs, and Alice comes to the realization of a new reality. Rinse the blood of the zombies and repeat. Until the "Resident Evil" pays off in the international box office (remember, "Resident Evil 3" also advertised as the final part of the trilogy), Alice continues to hunt for mutants. In any case, in the finale she says it herself: "My work is not finished."
