Bumblebee 4K review

On Cybertron, the planet of the Autobots and the Decepticons, the war has raged year after year. Autobot in it is clearly losing, and during one of the battles Optimus Prime sends his young assistant Bumblebee (albeit, while no one calls him that yet) to Earth. Bumblebee must protect this planet until reinforcements arrive and the Autobots build their new base there. Only after him the Decepticon flies there and during the battle deprives Bumblebee of memory and speech. A few years later, an autobot disguised as an old Volkswagen Beetle finds Charlie, a slightly isolated girl who is still very much worried about losing her father. She repairs the car and brings it home, where Bumblebee reveals her true face. The girl and the autobot quickly realize that this is - just like in a classic movie - the beginning of a beautiful friendship. "Bumblebee" was in a very interesting position. The new part of the franchise, which in ten years has turned from a thunderstorm of all blockbusters into an absolute ridicule, is almost a common name for stupid and soulless movie attractions. What is even more interesting, she even managed to lose this nominativity - so everyone now seems to spit on Transformers. Only five years ago, they collected billions, now they are hardly a plus, and then only at the expense of global fees: in their homeland films collect more Golden Malines than green papers. "Bumblebee", in theory, should be the entrance ticket to the franchise in the era of serial blockbusters and kinovelennyh - the world, to which the old-fashioned gigantomania Michael Bay was clearly not ready. But there is no longer any franchise: all the sequels and spin-offs after the failure of the Last Knight were massively canceled, and Travis Knight's painting is likely to be the Transformers swan song. But the song, I must say, spectacular - a nostalgic hit straight from the 80s, which is not a shame to leave for sunset. The specific position of the film definitely plays into his hands: "Bumblebee" does not look at all as part of the terrible overloaded narrative that Michael Bay built for so long. Of course, the external signs remained - there is also some pathos, and some fan service, and all this boring murk about Autobots and Decepticons. In general, everything that should link the film with his "toy", overloaded, dead universe, which Travis Knight is clearly not very interested. And this is very noticeable: the scenes on Cybertron, like the whole exposition, are the worst thing in the film. They seem to be attached to "Bumblebee" after the fact, without the director's special desire, simply because it is necessary. Even the colorful megalomanic action - the main thing for which they loved "Transformers" in the short years of their glory - in the hands of Knight is greatly transformed, from an end in itself turns only into a way to move the story. With that, he shoots it better than Bay: it turns out that in order to do the "boom" correctly, there is little clip thinking and advanced graphics. We also need at least some sense of proportion. At Knight, it just is: no half-hour battles and unreasonable slow-mo, everything is clear, beautiful, and only where it is really necessary. The comparison is rather ironic: after all, Bumblebee is literally - and an alien, and a steel giant. Travis Knight shoots a completely different movie: cute family fiction, hooting "Alien" and "Steel Giant", unless a little more stupid. The film, in principle, resembles a simplified version of the early Spielberg: also about the difficulties of growing up, about escapism and self-acceptance. A simple but effective movie, putting a fantastic concept in the center of an incredibly humane history, where people are more important than any special effects. Its difference from the past "Transformers" is well illustrated by one detail: in "Bumblebee UHD" we more often see the faces of the characters than in all the previous parts combined. Bay has such a thing: if it's a close-up, then either someone's ass, or an American flag. Travis Knight is really interested in the characters, no matter how naive their archetypes may be and no matter how simple the local drama is. Let the dialogues are often too sketchy, and after some jokes you can expect offscreen laughter - the approach itself is more important. In addition to all the scenic shortcomings in "Bumblebee 4k" there is one answer: Hayley Steinfield. She seems to make the most crooked cue sound convincing. Bumblebee Ultra HD: Trailer (Rus.) 0: 00 / 0:00 Speed1 The farther the film goes, the less it remains dull and "obligatory", the more interesting and original it appears. As in its excellent "Kubo", Knight is gaining momentum by the end, the connection with the characters is growing stronger, and the final may well break apart especially sentimental spectators. Yes, and not sentimental, too: one of the final scenes here (the one with the rear-view glass), no joke, is the most touching thing that we saw in the blockbusters of this year. There is only one question: why was it not so immediately?
