The President of the Planet Space Eggs sends Lord Dark Helmet to steal Princess Vespa. In return, he wants to get all the air from the planet Druidia. Only Lon Starr and the great Yogurt can stop the evil president and destroy the Space Eggs planet!
Spaceballs 4K ReviewTo be honest, after ten minutes of watching this picture, I frankly regretted that I had not seen it ten years ago, then certainly the local humor would have gone much better. And so I was sitting openly with a bewildered look, and was already glancing at the reverse timing. However, I have to admit that further the film undoubtedly leveled off, both in the share of humor and in terms of the plot component, and it was quite interesting to watch what was happening on the screen.
The story itself is as simple as the world: Princess Vespa, from the planet Druidia, escapes from her own wedding ceremony in the company of her faithful robot friend, while hijacking a spaceship, and sets off to meet unknown worlds. Her grief-stricken father, the plump King Roland, contacts the intergalactic scoundrel Lon Star, with a request to find and deliver her beloved child. However, he does not know that President Scrub has his own plans for the planet Druidia, and Princess Vespa will be a very important tool for blackmailing her king.
The main advantage of this parody, I believe, is precisely the fact that it does not set the task of making fun of the great original to nausea. The humor itself in it is quite soft and funny, when viewed, the viewer is quite easy on his soul, because the scenario sketch is also not bad. Add to this a magnificent scattering of cool actors, including Bill Pullmann, Rick Moranis, John Candy (unfortunately deceased), Michael Winslow (who played his episode brilliantly), and of course the 'man-orchestra' cheerful and inimitable Mel Brooks. Of course, it is old Mel who is the main inspirer and generator of the creation of 'Cosmic Eggs', having acted not only as an actor, but also as a director and one of the co-authors of the script.
Oh yeah, we can't fail to mention my beloved John Hurt, who repeated in the film one of the most memorable characters in his rich film career.
