During one risky journey, Indiana Jones manages to get the Coronado cross, which leads him to the knights-keepers of the Grail. According to legend, the blood of the crucified Christ was collected in the cup, and it is now capable of giving people eternal life. The kidnapping of Indiana's father, who devoted his whole life to the search for the holy chalice, unexpectedly confuses all the cards of Indy ...
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade 4K ReviewBy far the best part of the entire trilogy. Great plot, beautiful landscapes, rich scenery, lots of humor and, of course, the inimitable Sean Connery as Henry Jones, Indiana's father. Sean Connery is exactly the zest that was slightly lacking in the first and, especially, the second parts. The most "real James Bond", Sean Connery, appearing only in the second part of the story, easily replays all his colleagues, and even the vaunted Harrison Ford. That's what the old school of acting means.
This time, a tireless adventurer, circumstances force him to rush in search of the Holy Grail. Yes, I agree, a rather hackneyed topic about the legendary cup that bestows eternal life. Actually, Spielberg and Lucas did not come up with anything new in terms of the plot, but when watching, you somehow do not really think about it. Because there is an opportunity to watch an amazing attraction. In what places the heroes will not have to visit: the dungeons of ancient Venice, a medieval castle on the border of Austria and Germany, in the very heart of the Nazi empire, on the streets of an Arab city, the castle of the keeper of the cherished bowl in the Middle East. In what way the heroes do not have to move: boats, planes, cars, horses, camels and even tanks. And what colorful characters the Jones family will have to meet: what are only a 700-year-old elder who autographed Hitler or Richard the Lionheart. Trust me, it's worth seeing.
As already stated, the plot does not offer anything new. But the characters are very curious. Hero-lover Indiana is, as always, in her repertoire. There is also another very beautiful "Jones girl" - a real Aryan, although she is the eldest of the Jones, she is not going to give in to her son. If we really remember the hero Connery, then his character is the most striking of all. It is from him that the lion's share of the humor of the entire film emanates, especially in the course of the film, with his help, rather curious facts from Indiana's past are revealed. There is also an old professor here, a friend of the elder Jones, "who knows 10 languages and dialects", "able to blend in with the crowd", but at the same time manages to get lost in his own museum. There are many more minor, but hilarious characters, especially the leader of the Nazis.
In terms of acting, even Harrison Ford faded slightly against the backdrop of the brilliant Sean Connery. Connery stunningly entered the role of a witty and intelligent old professor, with all the spontaneity of knowing his son's favorite pastimes. Harrison Ford played at the level of the first two parts, showing nothing new, but also not dropping below his level. Of the rest of the heroes, the German doctor is most remembered, she is also the "Jones girl", who embodied rather contradictory qualities in her hero. Interesting character and good execution.
The third part, like the previous two, was directed by Steven Spielberg. And, I must say, he coped with his task very well, having managed to competently combine a boring plot, good acting, good special effects, expensive scenery and beautiful landscapes in one bottle. Another professionally done work by Spielberg.
One of the best adventure films ever made.
