Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark 4K ReviewFilmed back in 1981, the film "Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark" laid a whole new direction in cinema. And I must say the first experience of old friends Steven Spielberg and George Lucas turned out to be very good. After earning big names on Jaws and the Star Wars trilogy, respectively, they set to work on the next big hit and three more sequels.
The main thing to say is that they succeeded in the adventure film. Cheerful Professor Jones, who are very fond of the ancient mysteries of the lost treasures, sets out in search of the lost ark of ancient civilizations, which has a powerful destructive power. Harrison Ford was invited to play the role of Indiana Jones, whose candidacy the director managed to defend before filming. And, paying tribute to Spielberg, we can state that the role of a charming treasure and adventure seeker Ford succeeded.
There is a place here, as befits the laws of the genre, and the main villain. This is Dr. Rene Belloc, played by Paul Freeman, a black archaeologist and Jones' rival. He, having enlisted the support of the Nazis, follows in the footsteps of our hero. Despite the villainous nature of this character, he evokes a certain sympathy.
The main advantage of the film is that everything here is done at the highest technical level. You can look for and find bloopers in the plot, throw to the creators some fabulousness of the whole story, and distortion of historical facts, but it cannot be denied that everything was done very professionally. Three technical Oscars plus an Oscar for decorations at the 1982 ceremony are further proof of this.
The movie looks easy and casual. There are also many comic elements here. The film is made for entertainment, and it fulfills its function. The acting of Harrison Ford and Paul Freeman commands respect. Of course, the entertainment-adventure genre is not the case where you can show your dramatic talents, but even here they look very worthy.
Many musical parts of the film are performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, which gives certain episodes, and the film itself, a certain epic character.
I have never considered myself a Spielberg fan. None of the films he watched can be called a masterpiece. But that's just always paid tribute to his professionalism. In none of his films has he fallen below a high enough bar. So in this case, he combined the necessary components in the film in the correct sequence and proportions. And in the end, the result was a high-quality product that gave impetus to the adventure film genre. That there is only newfangled and commercially successful "Treasures of the Nation", where you can easily recognize the influence of the earlier trilogy "Indiana Jones". The film is still in various ratings of the most successful, best, etc. films.
