"Arrival" appeared before me as an excellent representative of the genre sci-fi in its best understanding, which happens in the context of cinema-fiction very rarely.
The slightly alienated, viscous atmosphere inherent in the works of Vilnev, very naturally fits into the story of the newcomers, suddenly and mysteriously appearing on our planet. The film is not like neighbors in the genre with their scope, being more mundane and meditative in dynamics and in fact, which does not deprive him of the fascination and intensity of the action, which contributed to the talented actor's work, spectacular plans, and the presentation of the material, which is laconic and expressive artistic and technical techniques. Contact with the newcomers fascinates and intrigues both visually and in a plot, and the world's reaction to their phenomenon fuels an alarming mood. Pervasive for all minimal music enhances the feeling of mystery and monumentality, especially in the moments of the first visit of the alien ship heroes ...
The action launches and develops two main storylines - the very process of learning about the purpose of arrival of strangers with the help of linguistics, and the abrupt personal experiences of the protagonist, who for this process responds at the request of the government.
Structurally, it turned out to be something like a mosaic, which gradually forms a logical picture, revealing and linking all the elements of the plot in a very unexpected, inventive way. But, speaking of the accents, throughout the whole timekeeping it was felt that the story was primarily about a man (from the perspective of the main heroine, of course), but the really entertaining linguistics with the aliens here is no longer about entertainment, but about a thoughtful comparison of worldviews, but it is in this lies the uncommon beauty of history. As a result, the narrative is gracefully looped, emotionally and mentally affects the viewer, bringing him to a certain life's message and leaving food for thought. The culmination is quite unexpected, revolving, and the fact that this effect reinforces the general meaningfulness, deepening, rather than depreciating the first two acts, can provide interest during the re-review.
The film "Arrival" was released in a special way, fascinating, stylish, strong and intelligent, with a tangible author's flair - this should be a good science fiction.
