In the wake of Spock's ultimate deed of sacrifice, Admiral Kirk and the Enterprise crew return to Earth for some essential repairs to their ship. When they arrive at Spacedock, they are shocked to discover that the Enterprise is to be decommissioned. Even worse, Dr. McCoy begins acting strangely and Scotty has been reassigned to another ship. Kirk is forced to steal back the Enterprise and head across space to the Genesis Planet to save Spock and bring him to Vulcan. Unbeknownst to them, the Klingons are planning to steal the secrets of the Genesis Device for their own deadly purpose.
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock 4K ReviewSo, the spacecraft 'USS Enterprise' continues to plow the vastness of the universe. Now they left not with a research mission, but with a specific purpose - Rear Admiral James T. Kirk learned that it was possible to bring his best friend, Commander Spock, back to life.
After the end of the second episode of the full-length Star Trek franchise, it was not necessary to delve deeply into the plots of the previous series to write a new script, and one of the main personalities in the creation of Star Trek, writer and producer Harvey Bennett, gave the go-ahead for Commander Spock's return. In addition, it was said that fans of the franchise inundated with letters asking them to return their favorite character.
But there was one more obstacle - the performer of the role of Spock, actor Leonard Nimoy, refused to participate in the continuation of the filming of Star Trek, decided that he had enough. But the producers found how to convince Nimoy to return to the franchise: he was appointed director of the third part. Nimoy, probably driven by vanity and perseverance, stated that his name should be in the credits indicating only his directorial role, and not one of the cast. But they acted differently and Nimoy was twice announced in the credits. By the way, this can explain the leapfrog with the directors of Star Trek: the first part was filmed by one director, honored, but in the second part the film company significantly cut the budget and picked up another director who has not such high requests in the fee, and in the third they approved Nimoy, if only get him back.
Returning to the plot, we can safely say that 'Finding Spock' is already a full-fledged fantastic action movie, but with a share of drama, which consisted in the loss of James T. Kirk's son. The scene when the admiral falls from his chair, having received the terrifying news, was so filled with bitterness that it has the right to speak for another feature of the character of the hero created by William Shatner - his inner state, when a big heart is hidden behind brave behavior, steel hardening. And more of the framework of friendship of a close-knit composition next to James T. Kirk is revealed, especially this affected the unexpected changes in the behavior of DeForest Kelly, he became a cornerstone personality in this part, with which he coped remarkably.
A fundamental factor in the fact that 'Finding Spock' became an action movie, was the storyline associated with a clash with a hostile Klingon civilization, and especially with their intimidating captain Lord Kruge. I don't even know which of the enemies of James T. Kirk and his team is more dangerous - Khan from the second part or Kruge from the third, but one thing I can say: as for me, Christopher Lloyd, who played, albeit in makeup, was more convincing and scary and the image of the enemy of the main characters.
I must also say that even though the picture was the debut of Leonard Nimoy, he coped with the task perfectly. Finding Spock may be the first to miss an Oscar, but it still didn't miss out on its features. The visual picture never ceases to amaze even at the present moment, and for those times, it was generally something stunning. The distribution of forces in the Star Trek Universe, what races exist there, what features they have, becomes very interesting. Of course, it looks like some kind of costume ball on Halloween, but this is only now, and we must clearly understand that then the make-up and costume designers did a titanic job and did it talentedly. After watching this part of the Klingans, it’s not that you don’t love, but that you’ll hate them.
